The Promise in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, has been broadcasting as a Christian music radio station for over 32 years.  President of The Promise House, Calvin Grabau, has been with the radio station for the full 32 years.  In 2001, he ventured on an African photographic safari and during the trip - he "knew there would be a time when we as a radio station would do something to help alleviate the suffering caused by poverty and HIV/Aids."  "Through my many trips to South Africa, I wanted to build a bridge from Jacksonville to South Africa...a bridge of love and care for the helpless." "This joining together of The Promise radio station becoming "The Promise House" fulfills my dreams of reaching out with God's love to the most helpless people in the world...babies.  We become the hands of God and cradle the hopeless with hope and the abandoned with love."I still go back to a day 20 years ago when I was watching abandoned children on my television and wrote these words.."
I saw you on the TV screen, the tear you shed was mine...
And though you seemed so far away, the distance couldn't hide...
The pain you feel, I feel it too, in your lost and lonely world...
But please hold on my little friend, 'cause lost is just a word.
Tonight, I'll cry for a child...
I'll let my tears fall down to their barren ground...
Tonight, I'll cry for a child...
But what will I do tomorrow...
"
Well, my tomorrow is here..."
